Sorry we were "away" for a month there. Life and school kind of took over.

You all took lots of Halloween pictures I hope?

I've got some challenges to help you use them up! :)

But first, meet our GDT! Crystal "Cadbury" Beshear

Isn't she just adorable? So is her scrappy style!

A Lil' About Me: When I'm not languishing seaside getting waited on hand & foot....Okay, who are we kidding, I live in Oklahoma and, as sad as it is to say, have never even seen the ocean, let alone languished by it. I'm a SAHM who is happily married, lives in the suburbs, loves her man, sometimes wants to throttle her amazing but 15 going on 30 year old son, adores our rescued fur baby, guzzles Mt. Dew by the gallons, worships the Lord & counts my blessings, thinks chocolate should be a food group in and of itself, wants to give a home to every animal in need, loves to read like there is no tomorrow, pretends to be Betty Crocker, and lives to create with paper. I began scrapping thanks to a kit from my mommy in law & haven't slowed down since. Creating, be it from home decor to cards, I am always happy and I also love the blog-o-sphere, where I've met so many amazingly talented (and super sweet) people! And not that I don't have enough to do already, but I seriously need to learn how to quilt. Seriously. Oh, by the way, I am so totally flippin' psyched to be here guest designing at Candy Shoppe Designs throughout November!

My Fave Candy: Cadbury Creme Eggs! I heard that in England you can find them year round & in bars, which is why I'm totally jealous! That so beats only eating your favorite candy one time of the year at Easter, or run the risk of looking crazy by buying massive amounts at the store to last all year. I guess here comes crazy!

Kimmy's favorite Fall treat are these yummy cinnamon coated white chocolate caramel apples!

Challenge 3: Fall Foliage & Thankfulness

Use the colors orange, yellow, red, and/or brown & scrap about someone you love.

Kimmy scrapped this page about her daddy.

& Crystal is thankful for her mom! :)

Our Favorite Layouts

I love the combination of circles and patterns and all the playful embellishments in it!
I remember smiling from ear to ear after I pushed on the last embellishment!
It's just a fun layout and always brings a smile to my face when I see it.

BACK TO SCHOOL CHALLENGE

Create a LO or other project with the following elements...
1 school uniform (plaid paper or ribbon)
2 types of coloring (paint, mist, colored pencil, water color, etc)
3 school chums (pictures of friends)
4 school supplies (paper clips, staples, post it notes, notebook paper, etc)
5 thumbtacks (brads, eyelets, or buttons)

Here it is, our 3rd Challenge for the month of June.
Every challenge you complete get's you closer to the chance to work with the Lollipop Girls as Guest Designer and every friend you refer who plays along gets your names both put into a drawing for an RAK. So spread the word...WE'RE BACK!!!

SUMMER READING

For this challenge simply complete a project (card, LO, ATC, Altered art, mini book, etc)
inspired by a book:
the story, the book cover, or just books in general.

OR

Create something cool using book pages. :)

featuring one BIG fabulous photo! Love the title work & embellies on top of the photo!

I chose to to my layout about a beach trip and used mainly printed off digital elements to create my page. The title was scratched din the photo after it was coated in bleach.

If you follow my personal blog then this picture of David in all his glory comes as no surprise to you because I gave a little sneak peek of this challenge a few days ago. I'm sorry if I made more than 1 person spit out their coffee when they pulled up their blogger dashboard. ;-)

I had an idea in mind for this though.....I did! Even though my Lollipop Girls actually shied away from this one I am planning to take it on later this month. See this guy in the picture?

That colorful armoured dude in the background?

Yeah well, I happened to come across a miniature version and I plan on doing a little replica of him. SO scared to tackle this project but excited at the same time! My finished piece will hopefully resemble this one in the picture that I love so much.

WHITE Challenge

I know this one's been done before elsewhere but I figured it a perfect time to do one too at C.S.D.

It's a new year. Time to start fresh. Make everything pure....so that later in the year we can corrupt it with all of my other outrageous ideas. Kidding!

No I'm not.. ;-)

If you know me well enough then you know that I don't like to play by the rules. So, of course I'm not going to make you if I don't. You will be allowed to bend the rules a bit. And by bending the rules we mean that you can customize these challenges given to you to suit your own personal tastes.

Like....if you wanted to add a pop of color to your white creation (like our Lollipop Girl Ally did), that's fine. You create these things for you, not us. However, please do not take this bending the rules bit too far. Like....creating in ALL BLACK when the rules clearly state that it's an ALL WHITE challenge. That's like....going to P. Diddy's ALL WHITE party when you've got ALL BLACK on and expecting to be let in.

XYZ Challenge

This challenge is being held in honor of all of my Lollipop Girls. It's significant to our latest happenings in that......it's the ending of the alphabet and the ending of this DT term. XYZ....these are a few of the letters in the alphabet that get used less often......so I KNOW you already have lots of them to use from your stash!

Try to come up with an interesting way to use these characters in your next creation. All of them or just one of them. Here are some ideas.....You could change the word "Extreme" into X-treme or create something about your last visit to the Zoo maybe. There are lots of uses you can get out of these letters "x, y and z." Think of something and don't forget to link up your creations by December 31, 2010 to our Linky party above.

Superhero Challenge

For this challenge you don't necessarily have to create something around a superhero per se, but you can create something around someone you consider your hero in life. Give them the recognition they so deserve!

The Lollipop Girls are going to show you how...

KitKat a.k.a. Kate Blue declares herself her own superhero for all that she takes on.

Foreign Chocolate Correspondant a.k.a. Kimmy Jaster considers her very own parents her superhero's for all the heroic things they do.

Lil' Mint Mocha a.k.a. Maureen Kao considers Manny Pacquiao (boxer/politician) as her hero. She loves that under that tough boxer image he can still smile and feel secure enough to show his softer side.

Suga Plum a.k.a. Tajanee White believes that she is her daughter's hero.

Lush Liquorice a.k.a. Jeanette Almgren thinks of her younger brother as a SUPER Dad!

And I, Cherry Lolita a.k.a. Lynnette Davis, thinks of my husband as my very own hero...because he is!

If she's an unfamiliar face to you, her name is Steph Devlin and she's from the land down under (Australia). She has been one of my all-time favorite scrapbooking artists and is our Guest Designer for November and December and I feel SO incredibly lucky to have her on board! You can get to know her a little better by checking out her blog HERE.

This month she is sharing an awesome pictorial with us to show us how she made the flowers on this gorgeous layout of hers.

Step 1 - Cut a Patterned Paper Strip, 12 inches wide by 1.5 inches. This gives you the size medallion you see on my layout (using the blue paper). Grab your Martha Stewart Border Punch and punch across the top.

Step 2 - Next you will need to score. I gauged where to score from the pattern on the punch - in this case the Martha Stewart Daisy Punch. Have a good look at the example below, you will see I scored in the middle of the daisy and in the centre between each daisy. Once you have scored the length of paper, fold it in an accordian-like fashion.

Step 3 - Take the ends of the folded pieces of patterned paper and adhere to each other, so that the pattern overlaps the end pattern perfectly. You can use glue, double sided tape, glue dots or even staples to adhere the ends. You will find that you end up with the shape below - once the ends have been stuck together - you are ready for the next step.

Step 4 - Get your hand and push down on the medallion from the center to flatten out the medallion. Don't panic whatever you do if they play up, you can always count on the fact that tutorials make it sound so easy, but when you go to do it, everything stuffs up. Take it from somebody who frequently experiences that. For the rest of you lucky ducks, it should flatten beautifully.

Step 5 - Punch a circle and lather (I mean really cover well in glue) and place the medallion on top. I have turned my medallion upside down here, so you can see what size circle you will need to use. It will all depend on the size of your medallion. You will need to hold it down for a couple of minutes depending on what glue you have, until the glue takes hold. Sometimes depending on how stubborn your medallion is to set, I pop a little glue in the middle, so it knows who's boss!

Step 6 - Punch a 1" circle and adhere to the front center of the medallion to hold it together securely..... and there you have it .... wholla!!! A gorgeous beautiful medallion. They really are easy to make and look so lush and gorgeous on your layouts and cards. You can try layering different size medallions with different textures, there really is no end to the possibilities. Try it and have fun!

My Dirty Little Secret Challenge

November is usually the month people GIVE THANKS. It's the month we count our blessing and share what we are thankful for. Although we Lollipop Girls at C.S.D. are thankful for so many different things, we would like to throw a curveball your way and we're hoping you won't dodge.

Instead of sharing what we are thankful for this season, we want to share our secrets with you all. In return, we hope you share yours as well. There's no shame to this game!

As a child she rode her bike everyday and loved it. But, when you don't do it for years (say 20) it's NOT TRUE when they say you always know how. Here she is on vacation this past summer when her daughter begged her to go bike riding. Although she couldn't and was AFRAID and embarrassed they took pictures of her on the bike anyway to laugh about later.

Yes, she sleeps with a baby blankie. Sadly, no, this isn't the blanket from her childhood. She actually dropped the whole blankie stage at a normal age (whatever you would consider a "normal age" to be). Once she had kids she thought that blankies were the best thing....for mamas too! So, she bought her daughter a cheetah print blanket knowing that she wouldn't want any other blanket than the one she was attached to. So now, she gets to keep the blanket and it goes with her EVERYWHERE!

I am pleased to announce that the NEW 5 Lollipop Girls have been chosen and I know that you all will be inspired by them in the months to come.

Let me introduce to you.....

Kristin Powell a.k.a. Pumpkin Sue

Kristin has a HORRIBLE potty mouth. She likes to listen to Christmas music year round. She hits the snooze button at least 5 times. She forgets to brush her hair. A lot. She owns at least 30 garden gnomes. And she loves really big (hairy) sideburns on a man. Somewhat disturbing, I know.

Maureen Kao a.k.a. Lil' Mint Mocha

Mo loves the fact that as an adult, she can eat sweets anytime she wants....sometimes, even in the place of a meal. She grew up in Hawaii but can't swim. People at work call her "the pocket nurse" because she's so short and tiny. She's also known as "Mighty Mo" because she's tougher than she looks. She loves to read trashy romance novels. She's always smiling. She's optimistic by nature. And she's very random and spur of the moment impulsive.

Kimmy Jaster a.k.a. Foreign Chocolate Correspondent

Kimmy didn't learn to tie her shoes until she was 12. She owns over 15 pairs of Converse shoes, all in different colors. She reads several books at once. She can't grow plants to save her life, she looks at them and they die. She can't have cereal with the milk in it. She drinks her milk on the side. She hardly ever wears matching socks. She owns about 6 umbrellas, purely for the fact that she loves them. She lives in Arizona. It hardly rains there.

Jeanette Almgren a.k.a. Lush Liquorice

Tettiz is extremely lazy and could spend whole evenings on the sofa watching television. She loves to bake even though she's on a diet. She just has her husband and daughter eat what she makes. She's afraid of snakes. She's obsessive about the kitchen in her house. If the rest of the house is a mess, the kitchen's almost always clean. She was named Jeanette because she was her father's (Jan) first child (one = ett in Swedish). She teaches English and Swedish in H.S. She loves the color yellow and her new yellow beetle says RAW on the license plate. That rocks!

Taj is an island girl (from Jamaica). She recently tried sushi and is now hooked. She doesn't like chocolate. She's a neat freak. Her cell phone is a piece of crap. She's not a morning person. BROKEN by Dana Tatar a.k.a. Pop Rocks

Dana broke the mirror from a case of old eyeshadow. Her journaling is from the song "Broken" and reads: "I'm broken when I'm open and I don't feel like I'm strong enough cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome and I don't feel right when you're gone away."

In Amy's words: This LO is based off of Lindsey Haun's song 'Broken'. The lyrics fit with what and how my daughter has been feeling lately. She is at that age and experiencing growing pains. She's emotional and confused. I used the lyric: "When you're broken in a million little pieces, and you're trying but you can't hold on. Every tear falls down for a reason. Don't stop believing in yourself when you're broken."
To represent the broken aspect of the challenge I broke glass and placed it over her picture. To do this I used clear contact paper and placed the pieces onto that as to secure them over the picture. I used broken cardboard, and ripped tissue paper. I also broke up the title.

In Annika's words: I loves this challenge. I get to play with things and break them, all a part of the Grand Plan! *love it*
I was inspired by the colours in the picture, and the ribbon-y flower in the girl's hair. I took some embellishments from Pink Paislee and cut them up and made a new flower with them, as well as some green bits resembling leaves.

In Chris' words: The photo is of our dining room after we were hit dead on by Hurricane Frances in Sept 2004 - we were hit again 3 weeks later dead on by Hurricane Jeanne and had even more damage. After being out of commission for the past few months or so I felt as though NOW was the time to start things back up again. I'm free of house guests, my husband is settled back in and adjusting well from his recent deployment, the kiddos are back in school, our new home build is underway and everything else is pretty much back to normal. So, I'm ready to start this shizznit if you are.

But first, we will need some NEW talent to showcase here on the Design Team because a few of my Lollipop Girls (including myself) are going to take a break. With that being said, I'd like to thank Dana Tatar a.k.a. Pop Rocks, Chris Aiton a.k.a. Lemon Zinger and Mindy Miller a.k.a. Lemon Drop for your time with us here at C.S.D. All 3 of you are SO talented and I know you will continue to do great things. Keep up the good work and don't be strangers.

So, who's ready and willing to be my next best catch? I know many of you have been waiting for this opportunity so here it is once again. I'm in a little bit of a hurry so this will be a rather short & simple DT Call. I'll accept your applications into the month of October and the first 4 that call out to the current Lollipop Girls will be who we end up picking. Hello Ladies!

I know it's been a loooong time since you all have heard from me. I went M.I.A. last month due to a couple of circumstances.

#1 being: My husband returned home from Iraq. His tour this time was short lived but I am extremely greatful that his replacements got there earlier than they were expected and that he got home safe. I am SO glad to have him back though, even though it was literally like a days notice before I found out he was coming home. His ONLY requests for me when he returned was to stay off the computer and keep out of my scrapbooking room and spend some quality time with him and the fam bam. So I did...with a short facebook sneek here and there. I had no time to warn you all or even prepare for my absence and it totally sucked being away from you all. I've missed you all dearly.

#2: A couple of my sisters from Hawaii came down the SAME DAY my husband got in and I had been preparing for their arrival all that week. My mother and a couple of my other sisters from Hawaii came a week later and left just yesterday (August 18). So, to keep my mind off of all my responsibilities in the online/crafty world I have been keeping busy with them and staying on the go.

Since my husband is back to work now and my family is gone I wanted to take a moment today to make contact and to let you all know that I haven't fell off the earth...yet. Also, I'm sorry if I had any of you worried or got any of you upset. It was a quick decision I had to make and I hope you all accept my appology.

I'll be a little busy for the remaining of the week as I am preparing for an important meeting this Saturday. My husband and I have decided to build a house and make Texas our home and this Saturday is when we go over the floorplan and some of the other details. FUN, FUN, FUN!

I know I have A LOT to catch up on scrap-wise and A LOT of updates to make for the DT's I'm a part of. Luckily I have my sweetheart, Ally Serrato, to thank for helping me with some of those things that need updating. I love you girl! Thanks for offering your help!

Things should be back to normal SOON!

I would say Diamonds & Pearls are a girl's best friend....but really.....I'm not much of a jewelry person. Oh man, I am SO excited to show you all something....

Lipstick Chick Illy from Italy is such a talented and awesome artist. I just LOVE her work!

She recently purchased quite a few of the CSD Sweet Confections a.k.a. Kits and she got started right away on the "Snap Crackle Pop" Kit. I got an email from her last week to let me know that she wrote a review on Scrapbooking Club Cafe and had these layouts and cards she made completely with the kit to share....Check these babies out!!!

1. LAST DAY

In this LO she used the Webster's Pages patterned paper in the kit as her base. She incorporated the mini frame and even altered it with the Basic Grey Bling. Notice the custom button and ribbon she ruffled and tucked neatly behind the frame? Who would have thought to layer this way?? Genious! To make her white title stand out even more she outlined part of the Thickers alphas with a black pen. Smart! This was the Basic Grey Flower Bling in the kit. She created it into a butterfly by borrowing some of the bling (that she used on her mini frame). Such a clever idea! Also, notice the butterfly shadow-look images in the background? She stenciled that using the negative paper of punched butterflies. LOVES! 2. FOR YOU Here's a card she made with the leftover papers/embellies.

3. GRADARA In this LO she used the backside of the Cosmo Cricket patterned paper as her base. For the beehive look pattern she used sequin waste as a stencil. She cut up some of the "b" and "p" letters to make enough of the "a" letters that she needed.

4. HI!

Here's a card she made with the leftover papers/embellies.

5. Tradizione She used the 7gypsies patterned paper as her base in this one. To add an even edgier look she Glimmer Misted it, splashed some white ink on it and even did the sequin waste technique she did in the previous LO I shared of hers. She also stamped a scalloped border on it for a more interesting look.
She added a scalloped edge to the Hambly Overlay and layered the custom buttons. Her fav. was the gnome button!
I'm loving how she added the K&Company Gems to the custom buttons and also how she placed them sparingly throughout her LO.
I love the fact that she is never at a loss for words. She makes sure to add some type of journaling on all of her layouts and I think it makes such a strong statement. Notice how she added white paint to the photo before journaling directly on the photograph? This is so the dark ink doesn't get lost with the dark background and is easily readable.
6. 28 Here's a card she made with the leftover papers/embellies.

7. April 13, 2008 Here she used the Autumn Leaves patterned paper as her base and she splattered some black ink on it. She added a bunch of leftover strips of paper and added faux stitching.
Again, she outlined the Thickers with a black pen.

8. LOVE U Here's a card she created with leftover papers/embellies.

9. ILLY I LOVE how she outlined her LO using the Hambly in this one.
This would be the negative butterfly piece she used to create those shadow-look butterflies. Nothing goes to waste with this girl!
Notice all the journaling she adds? She wont ever forget this moment!

10. HAPPY B*DAY Here's another card she created using the leftover papers/embellies.

11. THE VIEW
She used the Colorbok paper as her base in this one. Check out that view!
To help the acetate pieces stand out a little more she added white acrylic paint to the edges.
She took the vintage plaid trimming and created a handmade flower from it. Beautiful!

Want to know the best part? She says she still has leftovers after all these 11 creations were made. WOW! I think she rocked this kit to it's fullest potential and to hear that there is still some product left from the kit amazes me.

I've compiled a bunch of work that Amy has done here at C.S.D. and I feel like I've watched her grow in her womanhood. And let me tell ya, she's inspired me each and every time!

Amy is an 80's baby and therefore her teen years were the 90's.....you know what that means.....everything in the 90's was OUTRAGEOUS! Check Amy and her friends out as they went out one night.....no, not on the town.....just to Taco Bell. ;-)

HELLO, MY NAME IS.....AWESOME! As an Army wife of 10 years I am a true believer that you should always live life like there is no tomorrow. I've known so many who have lost their loved ones and because of the life I live, I don't take anyone for granted. You just never know.....

LIVE LIFE Did I mention that Amy is also an Army wife? Yeah, and if you don't know this.....Army wives have an incredible strength about them.....we're Army strong! WE'RE

NOT EASILY BROKEN We can hold on a year or more at times (when our spouses are deployed) to be close to our loved ones again because that's what you do when it's.....

TRUE LOVE And while our loved ones are away.....we don't sit at home and sulk about it.....we live life like we're supposed to.....because you can't put life on hold.....trust me.....life won't wait.

Ally is a natural blonde (mentally and physically), she thinks she's sooooo funny but doesn't know if anyone else would agree, she once had a 4-minute conversation with my 2 year old one day when my daughter was playing with my cell phone lol, her bff is a nice boy from church and she pretty much only wears Dr Martens, Vans and flip flops because she's 5'10 and doesn't need heels.

Dana Tatar a.k.a. Pop Rocks Dana wishes to travel enough to fill up her passport.....which by the way is empty, she milks her birthday for the entire month, she thinks chocolate + peanut butter = perfection, she's had a crush on a professor or 3 and she's one of them people you see singing it up in the car.

Myia Manghum a.k.a. Brown Sugar Myia can't stand smoking and gambling yet she works in a casino, she prefers fake flowers over real ones, she owns 125 handbags and they are all Coach and Dooney and Bourke, she admits to spending more money on scrapbooking supplies than on groceries and everywhere she goes and everything she does, she's wearing lip gloss.....showering, sleeping and eating included!

She only pump once a day, but she can't standing feeling like a cow and she's so tired of washing all those parts everyday.

NEW LOLLIPOP GIRL DT ANNOUNCEMENT

I was sad to have to say my farewell's to Cupcake, Pink Tootsie and Peppermint Swirl but quickly thought to myself "Self, just put another DT CALL out there and find yourself replacements." So that is what I did.

I am more than happy to announce these NEW Lollipop Girls and I am pretty sure you are all eager to see who made it on the team as well. So, say hello to my little friends.......Sugar, spice and all that nice stuff to the side.....these newest members are also made of courage, determination, commitment, toughness, heart, talent and guts and I am PROUD to call them my newest Lollipop Girls.

We all want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time it took to apply. We would gladly open up our Candy Shoppe doors for all of you talented folk if we had the room.

We will be having a NEW DT CALL in the next few months and for those that are still interested we encourage you to re-apply. Sometimes it takes that extra determination and to prove that....this happens to be the newest members 2nd or more try to get on this DT. So, with that said....stick around, show us your dedication and try, try again!

Your chances of making it on the DT all depends on who has applied.
